But despite a strong first half for the 15-year-old, Wolves took the lead through a controversial penalty in the 37th minute.

Shortly after the break, Wolves doubled their lead through Mateus Mane in the 50th minute. Arsenal had everything to do to pick up a point, let alone three.

Dowman kept pushing, hitting the woodwork with a volleyed effort, but it was Andre Harriman-Annous who got Arsenal back into the game. Turning on the ball and firing a low shot, Harriman-Annous made it 2-1 with half an hour to play.

Soon after the hour mark, Arsenal were level, and it was a bit of individual brilliance from Dowman that did it. The midfielder spun one way and the other before firing low into the net for 2-2.

Just as the game looked to be heading for a draw, Charles Sagoe Jr. drew a foul for a penalty well into injury time. Harriman-Annous converted to complete his brace in the 98th minute, and to secure all three points for the hosts.

With two wins, one draw, and one defeat from the opening four games, Arsenal sit 10th of 29 teams in the Premier League 2. But the focus now turns to the EFL Trophy, with Arsenal playing away to Newport County on Tuesday, September 23rd at 19:00 BST.

Ideally, Dowman will hope not to be involved in that match, with the Arsenal first team playing against Port Vale in the League Cup the following day.
