Duda Sampaio honoured for Brazil landmark, reiterates wish to stay at Corinthians | OneFootball

Brazil face the United States at Neo Química Arena at 18:30 on Saturday in a friendly building towards the 2027 Women’s World Cup. For Corinthians midfielder Duda Sampaio, the occasion could bring her 50th senior appearance.

As reported by Meu Timao, she was honoured in the pre-match press conference by head coach Arthur Elias and Cris Gambaré, coordinator of women’s national teams, who praised her trajectory and the trust forged with the staff.

Elias presented a commemorative shirt bearing the number 50. Visibly moved, Sampaio reflected that she has not yet grasped the scale of reaching 50 caps, recalling the nerves of her early call-ups and stressing her desire to keep improving, while highlighting her bond with the staff, particularly Elias from their time together at Corinthians.

Sampaio debuted for the senior side on 9 July 2022, coming on after 25 minutes of the second half in a 4-0 Copa América win over Argentina. She has since played 49 games, recording 36 wins, nine defeats and four draws, plus six assists and four goals. Her honours with Brazil include the 2022 and 2025 Copa América titles and a Paris 2024 silver medal, along with the 2023 World Cup appearance.

Amid overseas interest, she said no offer has yet made her want to leave, adding that helping Corinthians and staying in the Brazil squad remain the priorities. Since 2023 she has 121 club appearances, with 86 wins, 23 draws and 12 defeats, 30 goals and 25 assists, and eight trophies including the 2023 Paulista, the 2023 and 2024 Brasileirões, the 2023 and 2024 Libertadores and the 2024 Supercopa Feminina.

This season Corinthians are still competing for the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Paulistão, and will play the Libertadores later in the year. Sampaio’s contract runs until 31 December 2028.
