Melchie Dumornay was named France’s player of the year at the UNFP awards on Monday night.
According to Le Progres, the 22-year-old triumphed after being nominated last season but not elected.
The Haiti international delivered four goals and seven assists in the league, and was decisive in the Coupe LFFP and Coupe de France finals.
She received the trophy from Tahirys Dos Santos and partner Coline, survivors of the Crans-Montana fire, and said the award carried extra weight because it is decided by the players.
Dumornay also made the team of the season alongside Lyon team-mates Wendie Renard, Lily Yohannes and Tabitha Chawinga. Yohannes and Chawinga were contenders for best player and best prospect, while Christiane Endler was in the running for best goalkeeper.
Dumornay could push for the Ballon d’Or if Lyon win the Champions League. In the end, the best team in France left with only one individual honour.
