Celtic lost 2-1 at Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening, piling more pressure on manager Wilfried Nancy, who has now lost all four matches as the Hoops boss.
Celtic started the game as the dominant side and should have opened the scoring inside the third minute. Daizen Maeda put the ball across the face of the goal to Yang Hyun-Jun, who could not hit the target.
Johnny Kenny then saw a chance saved by Dave Richard in the United goal, after doing well to evade his marker.
Celtic were rewarded for their bright start in the 13th minute, with Maeda leaving Bert Esselink helpless, before picking out the far corner.
Kenny squandered a chance to give Celtic a two-goal cushion after the half-hour mark, failing to convert Maeda’s brilliant cross into the area.
Celtic took their foot off the pedal before the break, inviting pressure from United through poor decision-making, but the hosts could not capitalise.
United started the second half with a greater attacking intent, with Craig Sibbald and Zac Sapsford getting two chances to level the scores within three minutes after the restart.
Kasper Schmeichel was called into action early on, making a big save to keep out Sapsford’s effort.
United’s aggressiveness paid off in the 58th minute, as Vicko Sevelj picked out Krisztian Keresztes, who finished superbly into the net.
Three minutes later, Sapsford completed the turnaround for the hosts with a brilliant strike into the far corner after Celtic failed to clear their lines.
United were caught off guard as substitute Shin Yamada found an opening to level the scores, only to drag his effort wide.
Seven minutes from time, Maeda squandered another big chance for Celtic, connecting with James Forrest’s brilliant pass, but he could only crash his header off the post.
The result means Celtic have now lost four consecutive games for the first time since January 1978 and marked United’s first win over the Hoops since 2014.
