FC Bayern Munich rounded off their season with a 3-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart in Saturday night’s DFB-Pokal final in Berlin, as Harry Kane inspired the Bavarians to their 21st domestic cup triumph.

Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth praised his side’s effort despite the defeat and insisted the result did not diminish their performance.

“In the end only the result counts, but we can leave here with our heads held high. We had a good first half, but we lost the second. It was an intense game and we couldn’t keep up with the tempo in the second half. In the end, Harry Kane decided the game.”

Wohlgemuth also brushed aside questions about the invitation to José Mourinho and confirmed Stuttgart are hoping to extend Deniz Undav’s contract as soon as possible.

“I don’t even want to comment on José Mourinho’s invitation, there are enough celebrities here tonight.”

“We want to get straight to the point and extend Deniz Undav’s contract - ideally as quickly as possible, maybe even before the World Cup.”

On the other side of the pitch, Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl admitted the club had targeted a clean sweep of trophies this season and described the Pokal success as especially meaningful.

“We wanted all three titles, that’s how we approached the entire season. We won the league convincingly, but in a cup final you never know what can happen. That’s why it’s very special to finally win this trophy again.”

Eberl also praised Kane, who lifted yet another major honour after ending his long wait for silverware since joining Bayern.

“Before Harry Kane came to Munich, he hadn’t won a single title - now he’s collecting them all, and he deserves it. It’s wonderful that he’s with us.”

The Bayern board member also addressed recent comments made by honorary president Uli Hoeneß, admitting he had been surprised by the remarks but remained focused on his work.

“I found Uli Hoeneß’ statements today very surprising, but I’ve often said that I simply want to do my job. For me, the performances this season are what matter.”

“We’re constantly in contact with each other, which is why the comments surprised me so much. But that’s not what matters right now - tonight we celebrate our season and the 21st DFB-Pokal in the club’s history and I'm looking forward to it.”
