FC Bayern’s new youth strategy is becoming more and more apparent. Chief Sports Officer Max Eberl has now explained how sustainable the youth strategy is – and that it is just the beginning

FC Bayern is focusing on more talented youngsters this season than it has for a long time, with numerous young players making their professional debuts under coach Vincent Kompany – including Erblin Osmani, Deniz Ofli and Filip Pavic

The development at the campus is no coincidence. After years of criticism of its work with young players, FC Bayern now seems to have taken the right path. Players such as Lennart Karl and previously Aleksandar Pavlovic show that the leap into the professional ranks has become a realistic prospect again

Eberl makes it clear: Bayern is focusing on a sustainable path

In an interview with the Münchner Merkur newspaper, sporting director Max Eberl emphasized that the development is deliberately long-term: „We don’t want to create a ‚one-hit wonder‘, to use Vincent Kompany’s words, but rather build sustainable careers. In Lennart Karl, we have an absolute breakthrough player, and we have several others who have been allowed to make their debut.“

However, the 52-year-old also makes it clear that the development so far is just the beginning: „But that was just the first step, the boys have to keep working and our coaching team gives them that every day. But the boys have to be ready to accept it.“

So the direction is clear: FC Bayern wants to re-establish the campus as an integral part of the professional team – not just selectively, but permanently

What is particularly striking is the breadth of talent: in addition to Karl and Pavlovic, Cassiano Kiala, Felipe Chavez and Maycon Cardozo, among others, have also gained their first experience with the professionals this season

The message from Munich is clear: Bayern’s new path should not only produce individual surprises, but also create a stable foundation for the future.
