The Eddie Howe Bromley Press Conference has taken place.
The Newcastle United Head Coach speaking to the media ahead of Sunday afternoon’s game.
United making a return to St James’ Park.
Bromley the opposition, as Newcastle look to make it eight wins in a row.
Eddie Howe’s side looking to add another victory to those over Leicester, Brentford, Ipswich, Villa, Man U, Spurs and Arsenal.
Eddie Howe Bromley press conference on Friday:
“The desire is there from us all [to have another cup run].
“We don’t prioritise any competition ahead of any another.
“We want to try and win the next game and this game will be no different.
“We will give our opponent the utmost respect and try to win the match.”
Eddie Howe on squad rotation:
“We knew going into the Arsenal game the lads that had played the majority of the minutes were in a good place mentally but physically they were a little bit tired.
We knew we would have to rotate our squad but we’ve got very good players that are desperate to play and desperate to show their qualities.
“It’s a good game for them to showcase those qualities but also we have to get through so we have to pick a strong enough squad.”
Eddie Howe on being back at St. James’ Park:
“The three games we had away were brilliant days for us but they were tiring.
“It’s good to be back at home and now we have a little run there.
“In these games, they’re never easy home or away but I think it’s nice not to be travelling again from our perspective.”
Eddie Howe on Newcastle United’s recent run of form:
“I think psychologically it’s been a big step forward over the last three games.
“To do what we’ve done speaks volumes for the mental capacity we possess.
A lot of question marks from me to the group about our consistency levels and our ability to put a winning run together early in the season so that’s why it’s hugely satisfying to see the group motivated, consistent, driven.
“The challenge is always to continue that.”
Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak:
“He’s seeing his physio at the moment and we’ve given him a couple of days rest but we think he’s in a good place and he’ll report back tomorrow.
“We would have probably involved him in some way [against Bromley] but with what’s happened he’ll probably be given this game to rest and get himself right for our future schedule.”
Eddie Howe on Martin Dubravka:
“He’s been a very good professional for us.
“He’s come into the team and compliments to him because it’s difficult for a goalkeeper.
“When Nick was playing he wasn’t, he had to stay ready and had to stay focused.
I know how much Newcastle means to him and you can see that. Emotionally he’s very invested.
“All those things will be playing a part into his decision making and our decision making.
“Hopefully there’s a successful outcome at the end.”
Eddie Howe on Dan Burn:
“Dan has been very, very good this season.
“He always shows the spirit that we need.
“He knows what it means to represent the football club.
“He conducts himself in a brilliant way both on and off the pitch.
“He’s been the model of consistency and he has been someone we can rely on. You need players like that.”
