Eddie Howe says he is hopeful that Tino Livramento has avoided a serious injury.
The defender has suffered another knee injury, but Howe is hopeful that it will not keep him out for too long.
“It’s a difficult one because there is quite a bit of information on Tino [Livramento], and we’re waiting to get full clarification,” the Newcastle boss explained.
“We are hoping it’s not serious at all and he can resume training quite quickly, but before sort of confirming that, we want to be sure that we are right. We haven’t got clarity on that but hopefully it’s good news.”
Meanwhile, Howe is hopeful that goalkeeper Nick Pope will soon be back in contention, and says he could return for the game against Manchester United on Boxing Day.
“There’s a chance [Nick Pope is back in the squad],” Howe said. “He hasn’t trained yet, I hope that he might train today, so let’s see how he does.”
Defender Sven Botman is also closing in on a return to action, Howe says.
“Sven [Botman] would be in the category of a group of players that are doing well, and again, we hope to get him back pretty soon,” Howe explained. “When that day is, I am not 100% sure. He hasn’t trained with the group yet. But potentially good news, I don’t think he is too far away.”
Howe is also hopeful that Joelinton will soon be able to return to action, having been an unused substitute for the last three games.
“Joelinton is getting closer to being able to participate,” he said. “We will see how he trains and looks today and make a decision.”
