Eder García joins Córdoba on loan from Athletic to bolster midfield | OneFootball

Eder García Altuna, 22, has joined Córdoba on loan from Athletic Club after making his La Liga debut. As reported by as.com, the club has welcomed the midfielder and wished him well.

Córdoba also highlighted his technique with a social media montage, presenting him as a powerful addition in the middle of the park.

His arrival increases Iván Ania’s options in midfield. On 30 June, Isma Ruiz was the only specialist left after exits for Requena, del Moral, Pedro Ortiz and Mikel Goti, while Théo Zidane’s situation remains unresolved following his contract expiry the same day.

García made two top-flight outings for Athletic last season, debuting on 20 February at San Mamés against Elche, then featuring again a fortnight later against Barcelona.

He previously came through Real Sociedad, playing for Real Sociedad C in Segunda Federación between 2021 and 2023 before stepping up to Sanse, earning promotion to Segunda in 24-25. In 22-23 he featured in five matches, and in 23-24 he played 30 league games and scored three. In the promotion campaign he appeared in 39 of 42 matches, including four in the play-offs, and netted four.

After that season he joined Athletic’s second team, playing 34 times and scoring four, which led to his senior debut. He now heads to Córdoba to compete for a place alongside Isma Ruiz and fellow recruit Damián Cáceres, and will share a dressing room with Ibai Sanz.
