Edin Džeko closing in on Schalke return | OneFootball

Edin Džeko is close to extending his Schalke 04 stay after a full agreement on a new contract, according to BuLi News. The deal would keep the striker in Gelsenkirchen until 2027.

Džeko has been seen back in Germany following World Cup duty with Bosnia. Subject to a clean medical, he is expected to link up with the squad immediately and could feature in upcoming pre-season fixtures.

The 40-year-old became a fan favourite after arriving midway through last season, playing a key role in Schalke's promotion back to the Bundesliga.

His performances prompted the club to pursue a renewal, with head coach Miron Muslić among the driving forces in negotiations.

Džeko turned down other offers before choosing to remain at Schalke. The former Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Roma, Inter and Fenerbahçe forward was convinced by the project and the chance to keep competing in the Bundesliga.
