Palmeiras forward Eduardo Conceição, 16, has been named on a list of prospects who could feature at the 2030 World Cup. A line-up compiled by Eyeball and published by The Athletic, the sports arm of The New York Times, included the teenager as the only Brazilian.

He is training with the senior support group at Palmeiras and impressed for the under-17s, earning a call-up to Brazil’s age-group side.

Conceição is under contract at Palmeiras until 2029 with a release clause of 100 million euros, about R$ 580 million at current rates.

Grupo City made contact to understand the conditions of a potential deal, as did Jurgen Klopp when he served as Red Bull’s global head of football.

Inside the club he has drawn comparisons with Endrick and Estêvão, academy graduates later sold to Real Madrid and Chelsea.

João Paulo Sampaio said he sees echoes of both players in Eduardo, describing him as a rare natural phenomenon whose arrival cannot be forecast.
