Eduardo Coudet appointed River Plate head coach to replace Marcelo Gallardo

According to L'Équipe, River Plate have appointed Eduardo Coudet as head coach on Tuesday, following the resignation of Marcelo Gallardo, the most decorated coach in the club's history.
The announcement was relayed by president Stefano Di Carlo, who disclosed it to a local television channel.
Coudet is a former River player, having represented the club from 1999 to 2004. The 51-year-old was born in Buenos Aires.
He has previously managed Rosario Central from 2015 to 2016 and Racing from 2017 to 2019, as well as Tijuana, Celta Vigo and Atlético Mineiro.
He had been in charge of Deportivo Alavés, 16th in La Liga, since 2024. The length of his contract has not been disclosed. He will be presented on Wednesday.
