Sunderland have opted against triggering the one-year option in Harrison Jones’ contract, so the Academy of Light graduate is free to leave when his deal expires this summer, according to Sunderland Echo.
Interest is believed from League One and League Two clubs and from the Scottish Premiership, with at least five EFL sides and two north of the border thought to be willing to discuss a deal.
Jones made his senior debut in August 2024, a late substitute in a Carabao Cup first round defeat against then-Championship rivals Preston North End.
He has since made six further first-team appearances, including two starts under Regis Le Bris during the final month of last season's promotion push to the Premier League. Over a year earlier he made his first senior start in an FA Cup third round loss to Stoke City, which he said felt like a dream.
This season his senior action was limited to one start in August in a Carabao Cup defeat to Huddersfield Town. He was an unused substitute in 12 Premier League matches and on the bench for last month's Tyne-Wear derby win at Newcastle.
Loan interest in January was curtailed by an injury suffered in a Premier League International Cup tie against Borussia Dortmund. Since returning he has captained Sunderland's Under-21s over the last month and scored a fine free-kick in a 2-1 loss to Derby County, with scouts in attendance.
