Sam Parkin has issued a warning to Norwich City head coach Liam Manning amid his side's poor home form.

Pundit Sam Parkin believes Norwich City head coach Liam Manning could soon be under pressure unless his side's home form improves.

After leading Bristol City to a sixth-placed finish last season, Manning departed Ashton Gate to take over at Norwich in June, and he was strongly backed in the transfer market this summer with a total of 11 new signings, while the club also managed to hold on to star striker Josh Sargent, which increased expectations of a promotion push even further.

However, Manning is yet to taste victory at Carrow Road, and after losing his first two home league games against Millwall and Middlesbrough, as well as being knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton, the Canaries fell to another defeat on their own patch as they were beaten 3-2 by Wrexham on Saturday.

It looked as though Norwich's fortunes at home were changing when Jack Stacey gave them the lead just before the break, but Josh Windass' double and Ryan Longman's strike turned the game around for the Red Dragons in just 12 second half minutes, and Jovon Makama's late goal proved to be little more than a consolation for Manning's men.

The full time whistle was met with boos from Canaries supporters, and after the game, Manning admitted that he was "a bit hurt, angry, frustrated and a bit tired of waiting" for his side to reach the level they need to be at, and he urged his players to "take responsibility, step up and change it".

However, Norwich's dismal home form is in contrast to their strong form on the road, and after picking up victories at Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers and drawing at Coventry City so far this season, the Norfolk outfit currently sit 10th in the table, just three points from the play-off places.

Sam Parkin issues warning to Liam Manning as Norwich City pressure builds

Parkin did not hold back in his assessment of Norwich, claiming that they are vulnerable defensively and too easy to play against, and he warned Manning that the pressure will continue to increase unless he starts to deliver results at Carrow Road.

"Statistically, Norwich are giving away so many chances, we know that," Parkin said on Benjamin Bloom's YouTube channel.

"There were 28 attempts from Coventry, who only managed to scramble one in in the last knockings of that game.

"Defensively, they are flimsy, they are too easy to play through, they are disjointed.

"We knew all that going into the game, and it was a continuing theme throughout.

"I think Norwich are clearly a team who lack belief at Carrow Road at the moment, that's four straight defeats and they have conceded 10 goals.

"That's problematic because, as I very well know from playing in East Anglia, if you don't do the business in front of your home supporters, that magnifies quickly.

"I heard the boos, which was still a little bit surprising to me."

Liam Manning facing early Norwich City test after Wrexham collapse

Manning's arrival at Norwich was greeted by plenty of optimism in the summer, and while his tenure is still in the early stages, it is difficult to disagree with Parkin that he needs to improve his side's form at Carrow Road quickly.

Wrexham had won just one of their first five games of the season, so it will be a concern for Canaries supporters that the Red Dragons were able to come away with what was a relatively comfortable victory, and the manner of the second half collapse will be even more alarming.

Manning may be relieved that five of Norwich's next seven games are away from home, but their next two home matches are against a West Bromwich Albion side who have made a decent start to life under Ryan Mason and his former club Bristol City, so there is no guarantee of a better outcome in those fixtures.

It is too soon for Manning's position to be under any kind of threat, but the Canaries faithful have high expectations, and as shown by the way they turned against Dean Smith and David Wagner in recent years, they are not afraid of expressing their discontent.
