The EFL has replied to West Brom’s independent supporters’ trust with only an acknowledgment, leaving fans still awaiting clarity on a possible points deduction for an alleged PSR breach.
For the last 10 days, uncertainty has surrounded Albion over a potential sanction linked to a financial issue, while the club has said it has complied with all requirements. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the league has yet to set out any outcome.
The EFL has not issued a statement when approached for comment, and speculation persists over any penalty and the nature of any breach. It has been suggested the matter concerns interest on loans from the previous ownership, though neither the club nor the EFL has confirmed this.
The Albion Independent Supporters’ Trust wrote to the EFL seeking answers. It says the response merely acknowledged its email and promised further comment in due course, so the trust has called that unsatisfactory and asked again for immediate clarity with one week of the season remaining.
Meanwhile, Leigh Kent of Shareholders for Albion also wrote to the EFL and the new independent football regular. He said he raised sporting integrity and timing, and that the club cannot discuss the substance with him.
Kent said that, if his suspicion is right, Albion would not be in breach if the EFL had considered all relevant matters. He also cited the MSD loan, alleging shortcomings by the EFL and the Premier League, and said the case is complex with advice from at least two professional teams.
