Eintracht Frankfurt have omitted four first-team players from their Grassau training camp, and said Ellyes Skhiri has been released to hold transfer talks with another club. The club did not name the suitor, though the midfielder has recently been linked with a return to Köln.
The 31-year-old endured a dismal World Cup with Tunisia after being given the captain’s armband before the tournament. He spent four seasons at the heart of Köln’s midfield, joined Frankfurt as a free agent in 2023, and his deal runs only until the end of the coming season.
Strikers Michy Batshuayi, Noel Futkeu and Jessic Ngankam were also left out of the pre-season group. Batshuayi featured in only 10 matches across all competitions in 2025/26.
Frankfurt have exercised their option to re-sign the second-division top scorer Futkeu from Greuther Fürth, while former Hertha striker Ngankam spent the second half of last season with Wolfsberger AC in Austria.
Junior Dina Ebimbe and Niels Nkounkou, by contrast, are travelling with the team to Bavaria. Dina Ebimbe was close to joining Schalke 04, though Adi Hütter is reportedly in favour of keeping him.
The newly promoted side still fancy their chances of a deal, with Frankfurt wanting him to agree an extension.
