RB Leipzig are in ‘good’ and ‘very’ advanced discussions to extend the contract of El Chadaille Bitshiabu beyond 2028, according to Sky Germany. While the final signature is still pending, the announcement is imminent as the club plan a squad overhaul.
This comes on the day that Yussuf Poulsen, Willi Orban, Kevin Kampl, Peter Gulacsi and Lukas Klostermann are all allowed to leave the club with the Saxony club looking to refresh their squad this summer after missing out on European football.
Tying Bitshiabu down to a new long-term contract is at the forefront of Leipzig’s plans at the moment and in allowing the aforementioned quintet to leave, Leipzig will save around €6m per season on their wage bill.
Bitshiabu (20) joined RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain for €15m in July 2023. The Frenchman has since gone on to play 34 games across all competitions, 28 of which came this season.
