Said El Mala faces a fitness race for 1. FC Köln’s Bundesliga derby with Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

Kicker reports that the 19-year-old missed Wednesday training because of illness, leaving his availability in doubt.

Fynn Schenten, 18, Jakub Kaminski, 23, and Florian Kainz, 33, were restricted to individual work on Wednesday, so they are also questionable.

El Mala has scored nine Bundesliga goals this season, most recently levelling in Köln’s 1-1 draw with Hamburger SV at the weekend.

The extent of Köln’s options for the Rhine derby remains unclear.
