Said El Mala could be in Germany’s World Cup squad, with Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger reporting that Julian Nagelsmann phoned the 1. FC Köln talent to inform him of his nomination for the 2026 tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

The paper adds he was among the first players notified. Bild claims Nagelsmann will confirm his selection on Thursday.

The call-up would be a mild surprise, as El Mala has been picked before but is yet to win a senior cap. He could make his debut in the upcoming friendlies before the finals.

Meanwhile, Sky Germany says Niclas Füllkrug will miss next month’s tournament, despite 14 goals in 24 games for Germany.

Sky Germany adds Kai Havertz, Deniz Undav and Nick Woltemade are definitely included, with a possible opening for a fourth striker.
