Elche face a pivotal home derby with Valencia this weekend, the stakes raised by Mallorca’s win over Real Madrid. Head coach Éder Sarabia wants as many players fit as possible to pick his strongest XI.

According to EFE, Marc Aguado, Grady Diangana and Adam Boayar did not start the latest session on the pitch, while Héctor Fort and John Chetauya trained with the group.

Diangana returned from Democratic Republic of the Congo duty with an injury and is awaiting medical results, so his involvement is close to being ruled out.

Boayar also has muscle discomfort and did not work with team-mates. There is more hope for Aguado, who trained partly on his own before joining in late. Sarabia wants him available and, if he responds well over the coming days, he will play.

If the trio do not recover in time, they would add to the confirmed absence of Pedro Bigas, suspended and a key figure in Elche’s defence.
