Elche is rethinking its attacking strategy after failing to sign a true playmaker during the summer. The Spanish club is once again considering the acquisition of Moroccan midfielder Hakim Ziyech, despite the summer transfer window being closed.During the last transfer window, Elche completed thirteen deals but failed to secure a playmaker capable of energizing their attack. This situation is pushing the club to look at the possibility of bringing in a free agent who can fill this pivotal role. Ziyech is one of the options being considered, even though the market is now shut.
Elche's management had initially dismissed the idea due to the player's high salary demands and some uncertainty over his physical condition. However, according to the Spanish newspaper AS, the club has recently changed its stance. The former Ajax Amsterdam star left Al-Duhail in Qatar last summer and is currently unattached, which gives Elche the opportunity to complete a free transfer outside the official market.Pedro Chinoca, Elche's general director, commented: "We are not closing the door on any free agent who can genuinely add value. Ziyech is a possible option and we will assess him with that in mind."Meanwhile, Elche has made a solid start to the La Liga season, sitting seventh after three matchdays, having collected two valuable points in their draws against Real Betis and Atlético Madrid (both finishing 1-1), as well as a 2-0 victory over Levante.
