After a run of four defeats and an even longer period of bad performances, Chelsea came back from the international break with a big win over Port Vale at the weekend. Starring in that victory was Estevao, making his first start since mid-February.
He racked up an amazing 2.24 xG and xA combined.
Estevao’s absence, which Liam Rosenior mentioned post-game, probably played a bigger role in the team’s struggles over the last couple of months than people are giving him credit for.
It’s true that the winger was not starting every game before that, but he was a key offensive weapon off the bench in every game. In terms of form, he’s been our most dangerous winger for most of the season. Those critical defeats against Everton and Newcastle could have been very different had we had the Brazilian on the pitch.
With just one game a week from now until the end of the season, we should see plenty of the youngster if he can stay fit.
Cole Palmer had a typically cheeky answer when asked about captaining Chelsea for the first time at the weekend.
Enzo Fernandez could still sign a new contract at Chelsea, despite the rising tensions that have led to him being excluded from the squad.
