Celtic FC Women return to New Douglas Park this Sunday when they play host to Hibernian in the SWPL (KO: 4.10pm).

And the Hoops are targeting three points against the reigning champions to what has been a positive start to the campaign for Elena Sadiku’s side, who currently sit second in the league following last weekend’s 4-2 victory away to Aberdeen.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Head Coach Elena Sadiku said: “We know that Hibs don’t change in terms of their shape.

“It was good to see them live in midweek against Inter Milan, and for me, it’s having that knowledge that we know exactly what we need to do on Sunday to make sure we get a great performance and result.

“They’re compact and they work really hard. Set-plays are something they’re really good at.

'We’re aware of that and we’re going to make sure that we’ll try everything we can to not allow them to get into those situations.'

“Our defence has been rock solid, except for the Rangers game and how we conceded the goals in that game.

“Claire Walsh and Kelly Clark have been really good together and that’s something we’re going to make sure they’re ready to play how they have been on Sunday.

“So it’s about focusing on us and making sure we do the things that we’ve been doing really well and keep building on that.

“We’re playing the champions and we all know what that means. They did really well last season and they’ve been competing in Europe now.

“That journey has now finished, but they’re a great team and it’s up to us to show what we want to show this season and we need to focus on ourselves.”

The Hoops squad are also looking forward to playing in front of a strong home support at New Douglas Park on Sunday, and Elena Sadiku emphasised the important role that the fans play in helping the team.

“As a coach you want to bring the best out in the players and the team,” she said, “and the fans play a big part in that.

“To see them showing up every week means so much, especially for all the young kids who can hopefully look up to the players, and the players do so well in thanking the fans every time and I want us to be together.

'Everything that we do, we want to be together, making sure that we can give back as well.'

“We know what Celtic is about, and for me, as the head coach, I want to give back to the fans as well because they support us every weekend.

“To share that joy together and to share good results and good performances, means everything because, in the end, we all want to do our best for the club.

“That means winning silverware – winning the league and winning the cups – and I think that’s something we need to be proud of, that we are representing a club which wants to do so well.”
