Elias Legendre Quinonez named in Ecuador’s preliminary squad for March friendlies | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, the Rennes forward Elias Legendre Quiñonez, 17, has been named in Ecuador’s preliminary squad for friendlies against Morocco on 27 March and the Netherlands on 31 March.

Launched in Ligue 1 by Habib Beye in December, he scored in the Coupe de France at Beauvais in a 3-1 round-of-32 win over Chantilly on 11 January.

He has since been used in N3 and the Coupe Gambardella to gain minutes. He is under contract with Rennes until 2029.

Last season he featured for both France and Ecuador at under-17 level.

From his 18th birthday on 22 April he can choose which nation to represent. He is viewed as part of Ecuador’s longer-term plans, and the team are qualified for the World Cup.
