Eliezer Mayenda’s Sunderland future is under renewed scrutiny after his agent posted from the Stadium of Light with a caption reading “The Last Dance”, tagging the club, the player and the Premier League. The social media message has intensified speculation around the 21-year-old forward.
Foot Mercato claims Mayenda is expected to leave Sunderland this summer, with several ambitious European clubs monitoring him ahead of the window. The report says his performances and career path have caught the eye in a season when Sunderland secured historic Europa League qualification.
Mayenda made 23 appearances in all competitions in 2025-26, scoring twice in the Premier League. He has played a key role across the last two seasons, helping the Black Cats win promotion then contributing on their return to the top flight.
He joined from Sochaux in 2023 and has 73 appearances and 12 goals for the club. His breakthrough came in the 2024-25 promotion campaign, 10 goals in 42 outings.
This term he played 20 league games as Sunderland finished seventh. Though not always a starter, his pace, versatility and work-rate made him a useful option for Régis Le Bris.
Sunderland face a significant summer as they plan for Premier League and Europa League commitments. Mayenda remains under contract, and his situation could be one to watch if interest develops. The club have shown a willingness to act decisively in the market and would be expected to protect their position should an exit materialise.
