Elliot Anderson focus as Man City and Man Utd ‘to battle’ for £75m move | OneFootball

Manchester City and Manchester United are said to be preparing a summer push for Elliot Anderson, the £75m-rated Nottingham Forest midfielder.

The Daily Star reports both clubs will go head to head for his signature after his £35m move from Newcastle in 2024 and his rise into the England set-up, where he is due to play a significant role for Thomas Tuchel at this summer's World Cup.

Both want midfield reinforcements and a transfer tussle is possible. With the World Cup starting in June, it is unclear whether a deal could be done beforehand. Anderson would prefer clarity before he travels, though he knows a strong tournament in North America could increase his value.

He accepts Forest could face relegation and believes he is ready to step up, whatever happens. United must secure Champions League football to have any realistic chance of outbidding City. Forest would have little choice but to sell if they drop into the Championship.

Speaking before Forest's Europa League play-off second leg with Fenerbahce, Anderson said: "I'm just focusing on my football at the moment and performing and trying to give everything for Nottingham Forest, really, so that's all that's on my mind." He added: "It's been a big two years. I think I've matured as a person as well."
