Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson has been ruled out of tonight’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Porto at the City Ground following a family bereavement.
The club said in a statement that Anderson is unavailable following the passing of his mother, Helen, and expressed condolences to his family.
Anderson did not train yesterday. Head coach Vitor Pereira had said in his pre-match press conference he was unsure whether the midfielder would be available.
The tie is level at 1-1 after last week’s first leg in Portugal.
Forest are five unbeaten going into the tie, with Pereira’s early impact evident since his appointment.
They drew 1-1 with Aston Villa at the weekend, Neco Williams’ equaliser earning a valuable point in their battle to avoid the drop.
Pereira’s side face Burnley on Sunday. Forest are three points above the relegation zone with six league games remaining.
