Elye Wahi’s (22) time at Eintracht Frankfurt could be coming to an end, according to a report from L’Équipe. The Bundesliga side are already in the market for a new centre-forward, the publication understands.

His time at Olympique de Marseille lasted just over five months before he joined Eintracht Frankfurt. He could be on the move again this winter, despite signing a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Bundesliga side in January.

Unlike Hugo Ekitiké (23) and Randal Kolo Muani (26), who both made a huge name for themselves at Frankfurt, Wahi has so far struggled. His manager, Dino Topmöller, was very candid about how the former RC Lens and Montpellier forward was faring in Germany. “We expect more from him and especially that he is more aggressive in the duels and more impactful ball in the foot,” he said.

The Courcouronnes-born player is still without a goal for them since joining. His best moment of the campaign so far came in a UEFA Champions League affair versus Galatasaray when he assisted on an Ansgar Knauff (23) goal.

Frankfurt general manager Markus Krösche said he lacks confidence. Wahi has yet to play a full 90 minutes for them.

The player who scored the Ligue 1 Goal of the Year in 2022-23 for Montpellier had a rough time with Marseille, and that trend has continued in Germany. OM reportedly purchased him for €25m plus an additional €5m in bonuses. He made 13 appearances for them in Ligue 1, scoring three goals during the 2024-25 season. He netted 19 times domestically for Montpellier in 2022-23 in 33 appearances.

Last January, Eintracht paid an estimated €20m to acquire Wahi. The winter transfer window opens on January 1.
