Emerson Royal has often been polarising this season for AC Milan, but that could also translate to the squad as a whole. Now though, they are looking upwards.

Milan’s season as a whole has been difficult to assess. There have been moments of brilliance, but they have often been hidden behind frustrating results. Como, for example, seemed to be heading towards the latter, but it could be argued that it ended with the former.

It was just the latest example of the Rossoneri’s spirit under Sergio Conceicao, and his ambition is seemingly being ingrained on the players already. The Portuguese has stated that his team need to be focused on reaching the Champions League spots, and this is being repeated by his players.

After the game against Como, Emerson spoke to SportMediaset (via Milan News) about their ambitions for the rest of the season, and his words followed the same idea of his coach.

“Yes, when we talk about Milan we have to keep this in our heads, because we are Milan, we are too strong, and this match will be very important for us because in the last few games we haven’t done very well.

“Yes, it can be won. With this team here at AC Milan you can win with any team. But for us the most important thing is to continue like this, working as a team, in all the matches, and I think this is the most important thing.”

“Yes. Conceiçao told me on the first day to take off the handbrake and attack. And that’s why I came here, I did this at Betis, at Barcelona, in all the teams I played in, and the trust the coach is giving me is important.”

“For a Brazilian, Milan is the biggest club in the world, because you see so much in Brazil. Ronaldinho, Kaka, Cafù, so many players have worn this shirt.”
