Unai Emery has warned Aston Villa not to be complacent ahead of the club’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Bologna.
Villa face Bologna at Villa Park tomorrow in a commanding position in the tie. Ollie Watkins scored twice in the first meeting, as Emery’s side secured a 3-1 against the Serie A side.
Ezri Konsa had earlier given Villa the lead, with Jonathan Rowe responding for Bologna to give them hope ahead of the return.
Emery admits the result was better than the performance from his team in Italy and warned Villa that the tie is far from over.
“The result was much better than the match we played in the first half, but in the second half it was completely different,” Emery told TNT Sports.
“We dominated them and controlled the game like we planned to in the first half and we were comfortable. We reacted well offensively when they scored.
“In the second leg they are going to try to suppress us and my message inside the dressing room is to keep playing the second leg with the plan we will have, but keep respecting them.”
