Emiliano Martínez called up by Uruguay for World Cup | OneFootball

Emiliano Martínez has reported to Uruguay to begin World Cup preparations on Friday. According to Globo.com, Gustavo Gómez, Mauricio and Ramón Sosa have also joined Paraguay.

The midfielder started in Palmeiras' 4-1 win over Junior Barranquilla that clinched a Libertadores last-16 place, then arrived in Montevideo on Friday morning.

Martínez has been a regular in Marcelo Bielsa's squads. Uruguay are unveiling names as players reach camp, before publishing the full list.

Before Martínez, Piquerez travelled to Uruguay after Palmeiras allowed him to complete treatment on an ankle injury with the national team.

Gómez is Paraguay's captain. Mauricio has been included by Gustavo Alfaro after becoming a naturalised Paraguayan, and Ramón Sosa heads to the tournament after recovering from a left ankle issue.

Abel Ferreira had accounted for these call-ups, noting on Thursday night a forecast of eight absences for Sunday's match against Chapecoense.
