In an interview on Sky, the former Bayern board member and long-time national goalkeeper spoke openly about the possible future of his former teammate – and focused in particular on the question of the right time to leave

„Is now not the perfect time…“

Kahn hinted that Neuer is currently thinking intensively about his sporting future: „Isn’t now the perfect time to win all the titles with FC Bayern one last time and then retire at the absolute peak of his career?“ asked the 55-year-old

He also questioned the burden of a possible participation in the World Cup: „Do I really need another World Cup in the USA at over 40 degrees in the shade? Do I have to do that to myself?“ Kahn is convinced that it is precisely these kinds of considerations that are currently on the Bayern captain’s mind

His thoughts even go one step further: if Neuer were to win the Champions League again with FC Bayern, it would be his third title in the premier class. „He’s already world champion. Then it would be wise to say: ‚That’s it‘ – that’s quite an art for a sportsman.“
