England coach Thomas Tuchel has likened Neymar to Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the Brazil playmaker continues his injury recovery. He will not be available for the World Cup opener against Morocco.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Neymar was selected by coach Carlo Ancelotti despite the injury.

Tuchel said Neymar is among the biggest names alongside Ronaldo and Messi, calling him incredibly talented with a strong personality. He believes Neymar has the confidence and quality to decide matches at any level.

He added that Neymar’s situation is purely physical and said he did not know the details. With Neymar in the squad, Tuchel argued, any team becomes more dangerous and stays in contention for World Cups and titles, which makes things harder for everyone.

Neymar sustained a grade two calf injury on 17 May during Santos’ match with Coritiba. The No 10 is working with Brazil’s medical staff, and the expectation is that he could be available for the second group game.

Brazil continue preparations for their World Cup debut, facing Morocco on Saturday 13 at 19:00 Brasília time at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
