England said in a Saturday night statement that Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will leave the Three Lions camp alongside seven others before Tuesday’s Wembley friendly with Japan.

Calvert-Lewin made his international return in Friday night’s friendly at Wembley, named in Thomas Tuchel’s squad after impressive club form.

With Harry Kane rested, Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke led the line and Calvert-Lewin began on the bench. He replaced Solanke shortly after the interval and quickly linked play.

He missed a close-range header, then attacked a corner that travelled through to Ben White to tap in at the far post. The match finished 1-1.

Eight players are due to depart, namely Aaron Ramsdale, Fikayo Tomori, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, John Stones, Adam Wharton, Noni Madueke, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka. A revised squad of 27 players are preparing for Japan at Wembley.

Stones sustained an issue in training before the Uruguay game. Wharton and Madueke picked up knocks during the match. Rice and Saka will return to Arsenal for medical assessment.
