England fans have been told they could be fined up to £2,500 if they don't attach flags to their vehicles properly in the World Cup.

England set up a World Cup semi-final against rivals Argentina on Wednesday night, with the eyes of the nation set to be on the fixture.

Thomas Tuchel’s men haven’t always convinced in the tournament, but a hard-fought 2-1 win over Norway, thanks to goals for ex-Birmingham man Jude Bellingham, has sent the Three Lions into the last four.

Now, Lionel Messi and Argentina await, and England will fancy their chances as the holders have also been inconsistent, and they’ve needed extra-time to overcome Cape Verde and Switzerland in the knockout stages.

England fans sent flag warning ahead of Argentina game

Naturally, as the excitement builds, fans across the country are showing their support for England, with the St. George’s cross is seen flying from houses, pubs and all sorts of buildings.

But, speaking to GB News, John Wilmot, who is CEO of LeaseLoco, has told fans that those who fly a flag from their car must adhere to the safety rules, as he explained why a flag must always be attached to a vehicle in a secure way.

Many drivers don't realise just how dangerous incorrectly attached flags can be, especially at higher speeds or in windy weather.

It's crucial to remember that anything attached to the car must be properly secured and must not obstruct visibility or distract other drivers.”

The update adds that drivers could be fined £100 and receive three penalty points if they don’t attach a flag to their vehicle properly. As well as that, it could be deemed that you are ‘using a vehicle in a dangerous condition’, which could bring a £2,500 fine if it went to court.

England fans will be dreaming of World Cup success

Obviously, those taking to the road must follow the safety rules, and this will help people potentially stop getting into issues if they didn’t put a flag on properly.

You can understand why fans want to show support for their country, as England are on the verge of making history as they look to lift the trophy for the first time since 1966.

There are still two major hurdles to overcome for Tuchel’s side, but the manner of the win in Mexico, combined with finding a way to win against Norway, has created a genuine belief among a lot of the supporters.

Of course, it won’t be easy, and the reality is that France are still favourites in the eyes of many, which is no surprise given the outrageous attacking talent they boast.

But, they face a difficult test against Spain, and England certainly won’t be overlooking Argentina, with the two rivals meeting for the first time in over 20 years.

This is a fixture that has a deep meaning for both countries for obvious reasons, and it is also a game that has produced some iconic moments, including Diego Maradona’s Hand of God goal, and his magnificent individual effort, back in 1986.

England did win the most recent game between the two countries at a World Cup, with David Beckham scoring the winner, four years after he had been harshly sent off in France ‘98.
