England to face Greece in Round 1 play-off for World Cup qualification | OneFootball

England will face Greece in Round 1 of the European play-offs for qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

The draw for Rounds 1 and 2 of the play-offs was conducted by UEFA at their headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland this morning. The draw was streamed live on the association’s official media channels.

England were one of the seeded teams in Path 1 of the Round 1 draw. The Lionesses knew that they’d be paired with a side from Group C of the original qualifying campaign.

The draw determined that England will face Greece over two legs. As the seeded team, England will play at home in the second leg. The Round 1 ties are scheduled to be played out between 7–13 October 2026.

Should England advance, they will take on Slovakia or Ukraine in Round 2. The Lionesses would again play at home in the second leg with the Round 2 ties scheduled to be staged between 26 November–5 December 2026.

The seven best-ranked Round 2 play-off winners according to the 2026 Women’s European Qualifiers overall league rankings qualify directly for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027. The one remaining Round 2 play-off winner will qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 inter-confederation play-offs.

England missed out on automatic qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 after finishing in second place in their group in the initial qualifying campaign.
