Tip 2: Harry Kane to win World Cup Golden Boot - 7/1 Bet365
The 2026 World Cup is almost here as a record 48 teams battle out to lift the biggest prize in football across 16 cities in the USA, Canada and Mexico this summer.
As always, hopes are high for the England team ahead of the tournament, with Thomas Tuchel’s men heading out to North America among the favourites to lift the trophy.
England World Cup betting will be extremely popular this summer and betting sites are offering odds as low at 7/1 for the Three Lions to win a second World Cup in July, with only Spain and France regarded as better-placed to win.
Tuchel has now announced the 26-man squad he will take to North America, and while headlines will be dominated by some notable absentees for now, attention will soon turn to whether or not the Three Lions can back up their tag as one of the favourites with some dominant performances in Dallas, Boston and New York across the group stages.
England kick off their campaign against Croatia on 17 June before facing Ghana on 23 June and then finishing the group stages with a game against Panama on 27 June.
It’s a group that the Three Lions are widely expected to win, though it could set up some mouth-watering ties in later rounds, with Harry Kane and co. potentially having to beat all of Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Spain to lift the trophy for a second time.
Expectations are high as the Three Lions head to North America and while opinions will differ on what constitutes a ‘successful’ tournament, England would be disappointed with anything less than a semi-final berth this summer.
The Three Lions fell to Spain in the final of Euro 2024 two years ago but that means this is now an England side that has reached two major finals in the past six years, even if the quarter-final exit to France in 2022 made for a disappointing campaign in Qatar.
A wealth of experienced combined with an undoubtedly talented squad and the promise of Tuchel’s tactical expertise and previous cup success means that this is the most exciting England have looked in years, and football bookmakers have responded accordingly, labelling the Three Lions among the favourites to win the World Cup.
Nevertheless, the abundant outside factors mean that betting on England’s campaign is extremely difficult, even if we can plot a rough path to the final.
If the Three Lions finish top of Group L then the draw could open up for them in some ways. A round of 16 match against Mexico at the Azteca would be tricky, and while quarter-final and semi-final games against Brazil and defending champions Argentina look exceedingly difficult on paper, neither side is as strong as they were four years ago, while England have grown as a side since then.
If it all comes into place for the Three Lions then it could be a historic summer in the USA, though we’ll fall short of predicting that England will lift the trophy. Instead, the best World Cup betting sites seem to offer the most realistic value on England making the final, which we think should be the expectation this summer.
England captain Harry Kane once again carries the hopes of a nation on his shoulders as he leads the Three Lions in North America, and thankfully the Bayern Munich striker enters the tournament in the form of his life, having scored 58 goals in 50 games across all competitions at club level.
Kane had emerged as the world’s best striker in recent seasons but this term he solidified his spot among the world’s best players, and a similarly brilliant run of performances this summer may well allow him to stake his claim to the Ballon d’Or.
What matters most to the captain is winning something with his country though, and he will be the key man for England if they hope to get to the latter stages or even win the World Cup.
Kane enters the tournament off a run that has seen him score 15 goals in his last 12 league games, and he is among the favourites to win the World Cup Golden Boot this summer.
Only Kylian Mbappe has better World Cup 2026 odds for the Golden Boot, with the French striker priced around 6/1.
Kane previously won the award with six goals in 2018 as England got to the semi-finals, and the Three Lions will need a similarly superb campaign again if they are to realise their ambitions this summer.
With England World Cup betting odds of 7/1 for the Bayern Munich striker to win a second Golden Boot, we think that’s a wager that offers plenty of value with the best betting apps on the market.
Tuchel has now officially announced a confirmed 26-man World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament.
The England boss has selected the following players:
