England’s largest football grounds by capacity have been ranked, with Yorkshire’s Elland Road placed 14th on the list.

Betsson’s ranking covers only stadiums that host men’s or women’s clubs, so Wembley is excluded. The North West, North East and London provide 12 of the 20, and 29 English grounds hold more than 30,000.

The top positions are Manchester United’s Old Trafford 74,879, West Ham’s London Stadium 62,500, Tottenham’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium 62,303, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium 60,704 and Man City’s Etihad Stadium 55,097. Liverpool’s Anfield is next at 54,074, followed by Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium 52,769.

Newcastle’s St James’ Park 52,354 and Sunderland’s Stadium of Light 48,707 complete the top nine. Aston Villa’s Villa Park 42,785 and Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge 40,834 come next, then Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough 39,732 and Goodison Park 39,572 for Everton women.

Leeds United’s Elland Road is 14th at 37,890, ahead of Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium 33,746, Derby’s Pride Park 33,597 and Cardiff City Stadium 33,280. Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane 32,702, Coventry’s Coventry Building Society Arena 32,609 and Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium 32,505 round out the 20. Some consider Middlesbrough part of Yorkshire.
