Enrique Riquelme has named the 12-strong slate for his proposed board as he challenges Florentino Pérez for the Real Madrid presidency, after the club’s Electoral Board validated his paperwork and opened the way for the first vote in two decades.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Alicante-born businessman filed his bid on Saturday after securing a 193 million euro guarantee from Andbank España, equal to 15% of the club’s budget as required by its statutes. His documents were approved roughly 24 hours later.

Riquelme, 37, leads a ticket drawn from business, finance, legal and executive circles, some with past Real Madrid roles.

The slate is headed by Riquelme, executive president of Grupo Cox and founder of Cox Energy. Vice-president nominee Antonio Medina Cuadros, a lawyer and Grupo Cox board secretary, previously served as Real Madrid secretary general, board member and executive vice-president of the Foundation.

Other proposed directors include Rosauro Varo, Héctor Fabián Gómez-Sáinz García, Daniel Nicolás Miras and Raúl Rodríguez González, among others, with Francisco Gaspar Riquelme Rubira as secretary.

A notable omission is David Mesonero, Iberdrola’s corporate director and son-in-law of Ignacio Sánchez Galán, previously linked to the project.

With the candidacies of Riquelme and Pérez validated, the campaign will begin this week. The Electoral Board will set the vote, expected in around 15 days, with Sunday 7 June 2026 among the options.
