Enzo Barrenechea was photographed asleep in a corridor at Benfica’s Seixal complex on the first day of 2026/27 preparations, with team-mate Gianluca Prestianni capturing the moment.

According to Glorioso 1904, the young compatriot posted an Instagram story showing Barrenechea dozing on a sofa with a light-hearted line, then deleted it soon after, although the image quickly circulated among Benfica supporters.

Barrenechea also drew attention for a yellow jacket bearing the Portuguese Football Federation emblem, yet the nap became the main talking point.

Inside the squad the episode was taken in good humour.

After a debut campaign of 43 appearances, two goals and one assist, Barrenechea is now preparing to take on an important role under Marco Silva. Benfica invested €15 million to sign him from Aston Villa.
