Éric Chelle contacted by Algerian federation to replace Vladimir Petkovic | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, the Algerian federation have contacted Éric Chelle, the Nigeria head coach whose contract expires in January, about replacing Vladimir Petkovic.

Vladimir Petkovic, 62, was handed an extension just before the World Cup, taking his deal to July 2028.

He has faced strong criticism at home after Algeria were eliminated by Switzerland, 0-2, in the last 32. His tenure began in 2024.

A 48-year-old former Mali international, Chelle has no major tournaments ahead with the Super Eagles.

He previously worked in Algeria with Mouloudia Club Oranais in the 2024-2025 season.
