Eric Garcia reaches key appearances milestone for Barcelona against Espanyol | OneFootball

FC Barcelona secured an important 2-0 win over Espanyol last Saturday. It was not pretty from Hansi Flick’s team, but it was the kind of gritty win that could be the difference between champions and runners-up at the end of the season.

For much of the 90 minutes, the Catalan club had Joan Garcia to thank for keeping them in the game. In the final minutes, however, Barcelona turned the screws and put two past their Catalan rivals, thanks to Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski.

According to Mundo Deportivo, another Barcelona star, Eric Garcia, reached an important appearance milestone against Espanyol. It was the Spaniard’s 100th La Liga appearance for the Catalan club, and he put in yet another flawless performance.

Eric has been Barcelona’s surprise package so far this season. The 24-year-old has defied all critics and established himself as one of Flick’s first names on the team sheet. His importance continues to increase with every passing game.

Such has been his involvement that Eric is the only Barcelona player to have featured in all 26 official games so far in the 2025/26 season. He has also accumulated the most minutes in the squad and was rewarded with a contract extension until 2031.

Flick cannot stop singing the Spaniard’s praises. He has grown by leaps and bounds from the player he was when he arrived from Manchester City as a 20-year-old, and if he continues in the same vein, this might be the first hundred of many to come.

For someone who has been shunted across positions as much as he has, Eric does not look out of place anywhere in this system. From a Barcelona perspective, one can only hope that this continues for a long time to come and that the Spaniard continues to grow and mature in Blaugrana colors.
