Eric Ramsay has been linked with the Wales job if Craig Bellamy departs, with relegated Burnley strongly interested in the head coach. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Welsh federation are preparing for that possibility ahead of the new season.

The 34-year-old has not returned to management since his short spell at The Hawthorns early this year. He succeeded Ryan Mason on January 11.

Ramsay oversaw a winless run of nine matches across 44 days, leaving Albion deeper in relegation trouble. Former player and coach James Morrison then led a surge to survival.

The Football Association of Wales are understood to have monitored Ramsay’s progress. Appointed from Minnesota United in the United States, he previously worked with Wales’ youth teams, served as an assistant at Manchester United and coached in Chelsea’s academy.

Burnley are looking to appoint a new boss to replace the sacked Scott Parker. It is said the Welsh FA are seeking £1million in compensation for Bellamy’s services. Burnley will face Albion in the Championship next season.

Should Bellamy leave, potential successors are said to include former Swansea and Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper and recently sacked Wolves boss Rob Edwards.
