Eric Ramsay has been linked with the Welsh national side if Craig Bellamy departs. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the former West Brom head coach is among options under consideration.
Wales are said to be preparing contingencies in case Bellamy heads to relegated Premier League club Burnley, who will face Albion in the Championship next season. Burnley are reported to have strong interest in Bellamy.
Ramsay, 34, succeeded Ryan Mason on 11 January, but his tenure lasted only 44 days and nine winless matches.
That run deepened Albion’s relegation worries, before former player and coach James Morrison led a late push to secure survival.
The Football Association of Wales are reported to have kept tabs on Ramsay. He joined The Hawthorns from Minnesota United and has worked within the Welsh youth set-up.
His CV includes a spell as assistant coach at Manchester United and time in the Chelsea academy. Raised on the Shropshire-Welsh border, he also worked in the academy and first team at Shrewsbury, and was highly regarded for his work in Minnesota.
Burnley are seeking a successor to the sacked Scott Parker. It is said the Welsh FA want £1 million in compensation for Bellamy, and a potential shortlist, should he go, features Steve Cooper and recently sacked Wolves boss Rob Edwards.
