Erling Haaland (25) added another milestone to his remarkable career on Thursday night, as reported by Sky Sports, becoming the fastest player in history to reach 50 Champions League goals. The Norwegian’s landmark strike set Manchester City on their way to a 2-0 win over Napoli at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland’s breakthrough came shortly after half-time, nodding in from Phil Foden’s deftly lofted pass. The contest had already tilted in City’s favour when Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo was dismissed for hauling down Haaland as he bore down on goal.

The 25-year-old’s 50th goal arrived in just his 49th appearance in Europe’s premier competition, a record that eclipses the previous benchmark set by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who needed 62 games to reach the half-century.

Since joining City in 2022, Haaland has redefined goalscoring standards, amassing 130 goals in 151 matches across all competitions, and with 12 goals already this season for club and country, Haaland now turns his attention to Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal. Guardiola’s side will once again look to their prolific No. 9, whose appetite for records shows no sign of waning.
