Erling Haaland: The Story So Far | OneFootball

On this day in 2022, it was officially announced that Erling Haaland was joining Manchester City.

It was a huge coup for the Blues, with the deal becoming active on 1 July.

One of the world’s best young strikers, it was a transfer that thrilled our supporters and sent a shiver down the spine of defenders up and down the land.

And for the last six years, the talismanic Norwegian has been breaking records right, left and centre.

Here’s a look at what Erling has achieved so far with City in all competitions.

Games: 198

Just two short of a double century of matches for the Blues, Haaland has been almost a permanent fixture in our starting XI since making his debut away to West Ham United in 2022.

Of those games, 132 have come in the Premier League where he has so far scored 112 goals at an average of 98 minutes per goal.

Goals: 162

Haaland has already climbed to fourth in our top goal-scorers of all-time.

He is just four goals from equalling Tommy Johnson in third and 15 behind Eric Brook in second – and you’d expect him to surpass both in this calendar year given his exploits in sky blue so far.

But the Norway star has still got a way to go to catch Sergio Aguero’s total of 260.

Trailing by 98, if he keeps his average of 40.5 goals per season, he would be closing in by the start of the 2028/29 campaign but could get there even sooner.

An overlooked part of Haaland’s game is making goals for team-mates.

His 29 to date mean that he averages just over seven assists per campaign – a more than decent return and evidence if needed of his mentality of being a team player, as well as am effective defender at set-pieces.

Shots: 703

Like any striker worth their salt, Erling isn’t shy at taking shots.

His average over four seasons is 3.5 shots per game – and while they don’t all end up in the back of the net, plenty of them do!

Minutes played: 16,053

Erling averages 81.07 minutes per game for his 198 matches played.

He has had only a couple of occasions when he was forced to miss more than a couple of games and has an excellent fitness record.

Pep Guardiola preferred to rest our No.9 in some cup competitions to give him time to recover and stay sharp, though inevitably he would be called upon for semi-finals and finals.

Trophies won: 9

Erling came to City to win trophies – and he’s done just that in his first four seasons at the Etihad.

To date, he has won nine trophies with the Blues, including one Champions League, two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, one Carabao Cip, one FA Community Shield, one FIFA Club World Cup and one UEFA Super Cup.

Including Bryne FK, Molde, Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has already surpassed the 400 games threshold.

It’s 11 seasons since he made his debut for Bryne FK as a 14-year-old and he has packed more into that time than most players manage in an entire career.

And at just 25-years-old, our No.9 has plenty of gas left in the tank .

An incredible number of goals only elite strikers reach, Erling’s goal-scoring is already the stuff of legend.

He averages 0.78 goals per game so far, which is a phenomenal return.

No wonder Erling Haaland is adored by Norwegians.

His return of 55 goals in 50 games has helped Norway become one of the most improved European nations in the past couple of years and now he is set to shine at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
