Estadio AKRON pitch gets final touches ahead of the FIFA World Cup | OneFootball

After fully meeting all the requirements to host an official FIFA competition—like the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers—the Estadio AKRON pitch, which already holds the FIFA Quality PRO certification, is set to take the next step in its upgrade and fine-tuning process ahead of the world’s biggest football event.

This final phase of the work, which basically involves switching out the winter grass for summer grass, kicked off right after Chivas’ Liga MX match against Pumas.

These works will take about 11 days, with everything set to be ready in time for Matchday 15 of the Clausura 2026, when Guadalajara hosts Puebla on April 18.
