Ethan Moore says he has moved on from the knee injury that stalled his early career. The 21-year-old Sunderland forward is on loan at National League club Gateshead as they fight to stay up.

“I feel like I’ve moved on mentally and physically now and I’m just looking forwards.” He told Sunderland Echo.

Moore suffered a knee injury in March 2023 and spent nearly two years in rehabilitation. He returned after 887 days in August, coming on for Sunderland Under-21s in a 3-2 defeat at Southampton.

He made 17 appearances in the first half of the campaign, then joined Gateshead in January. He has played seven times, most recently in Tuesday’s 3-1 home win over York City.

With his Sunderland contract into its final weeks, Moore wants minutes to showcase his progress. “I just want to play as many minutes as I can and show everyone what I can do.”

Non-League Day brings Yeovil Town to the International Stadium on Saturday, a key test in Gateshead’s survival push. The supporters’ society is targeting a 2,000 crowd and tickets have been reduced by up to 20%. “If you come down you’ll see good quality.”
