Roma’s new signing, Evan Ferguson, gave his first interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Gasperini? I know that many strikers have become famous under the coach. He scores a lot. It’s definitely a positive thing for me too.”
“In football, you only play with eleven players; it’s normal for there to be players competing for the same position. It’s all about working hard. But it can also happen that you play with Artem: in the first friendly, we played with two strikers, Dybala and I…”
On the past season with Brighton and West Ham, Ferguson said, “It was a tough year. For the first six months I had to deal with an ankle injury, then I decided to go to West Ham. It didn’t go the way I wanted, but now I feel very good physically.”
“How many goals would I like to score? I don’t usually think about an exact number of goals. I definitely want to score in every game, even though I know it’s not easy. Twenty goals? Let’s hope so…”
“This is a great club, with ambition: we can do it. As players and as a team, we must all push in that direction. The fans deserve a team higher than fifth place. When I played in Rome with Brighton, there was a special atmosphere; the players seemed possessed.”
On his future in the capital, “We’re just getting started, we never know what might happen in the future. Now I’m just thinking about doing well here, maybe I could even stay here forever.”
“Roma is a club with a great history: this is a challenge, a new opportunity, I like different things. And then the Friedkins want to do great things.”
