It has been clear for quite some time that FC Bayern Munich will open the season against VfB Stuttgart. The DFL had published the schedules a few weeks ago. Now, the exact times for the first four matchdays have been set.
For the record champions, it was already clear that the season opener would take place on August 28 at 8:30 p.m. at the Allianz Arena against Stuttgart. Traditionally, the defending champions open the season, and that hasn’t changed.
Bayern fans now also know what comes next, however, as matchdays one through four have been fully scheduled.
This means all kickoff times are now set through the first international break at the end of September. As a reminder, this break will last longer than usual and include four international matches.

On the second matchday, the record champions will face Schalke on Saturday evening. This match has been selected as a top match right off the bat, in part due to its rich tradition. Kickoff is set for September 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Eight days later, FC Bayern will face the second promoted team. The match will take place at the Kaiserlinde in Elversberg. Kickoff is set for Sunday, September 13, at 5:30 p.m.
Just before the international break, Bayern will host FC Union Berlin. The match against the Köpenick-based team will once again be played at the Allianz Arena. The game is scheduled for Friday evening at 8:30 p.m., just a few hours before the opening of the 191st Oktoberfest.
The schedules for the matches following the international break will be announced over the coming weeks. After the international matches, FC Bayern will face FC Augsburg and SC Freiburg on the road, as well as top opponents RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund at home. It looks like even more top-tier matchups are in store.
